Weekend Fillers: Things to do from (7/21 – 7/23)

- The Art of the Brick
One of the first art exhibitions to ever focus exclusively on the Lego brick itself. Nathan Sawaya’s display is bound to not only capture the minds of the Lego loving youth, but also past generations Sentimental eye as well. This event is being held in Downtown Tampa, and best of all, it’s free.
- Summer Sunset Celebration
When: (7-21 – 7/29)
Time: 4:00PM - CL
A sunset celebration at Lowry Park, to enjoy wildlife in an entirely new light. One-of-a-kind dishes and a variety of refreshments accompanied by a plethora of unique activities to participate in. Great for the family.
- Reggae Fest
Time: 4:00pm – 2:00AM
Starts at 4 p.m. and ends at a little after midnight (2 A.M.). A free party celebrating the islands with live music and Caribbean inspired cocktails.
- Brookers Creek Preserve Hike
When: (Saturdays of July)
Time: 9:30AM – 10:30AM
Accompanied by volunteer hike guides, Brookers Creek in Tarpon Springs host a regular Saturday morning hike. Join for a mile walk-through of the beautiful preserve itself to discuss the ecological footprints of the changing land. A perfect, and educational substitute for a Saturday morning jog.
- Dali & Beyond Film Series
An extensive film series which utilizes surrealism to explore many aspects of psychology, horror, or experimentalism. One foreign film included is Noctuna, which runs parallel with the psychedelic fashion of films like Alice in Wonderland. A great free Saturday afternoon alternative at Dali museum, opposed to the movies.
- Wine Tasting Benefit
Food & wine raffle accompanied by Latin jazz and wine sampling. All benefits go to building maintenance funds needed for the Centro Asturiano venue.
- Sunday Bicycle Rides
Meeting at the Independent Bar in Seminole Heights, followed by a stress-free 20-mile bicycle ride through Tampa & Palmetto Beach. Guaranteed blissful approach to kick-start your Sunday morning.
- Busch Gardens Summer Nights
When: (7/20 – August 6th)
Time: 9PM – 11PM
Busch Gardens provides the whole family with fun with this yearly event that is hosted at the park. Welcome yourself to their newest attractions and take advantage of the park at its latest.
- Kids Gasparilla International Film Festival
Time: 11AM – 4PM
Hosted by the Glazers Children’s Museum, this event is a wonderful way to keep the kids busy this Friday with screenings from 11am to 4PM. Filled with short films and animations from the New York Children’s international film festival, this short film festival is bound to inspire. Recommended age 3-8.
