Rocco's Tacos and Tequila Bar has revealed its long-awaited opening date at Tampa's International Plaza.

The West Palm Beach-based Rocco's — known for "authentic Mexican dining in a vibrant atmosphere" — will open Feb. 12 in a space that was previously home to nightclub Blue Martini.

The Tampa Bay Business Journal first reported Rocco's plans for a Tampa location in September 2016. Managing partner Rocco Mangel previously told the TBBJ that his group also considered Hyde Park and downtown Tampa for locations.

"When we opened our West Palm Beach restaurant in 2007, we set out to change how our guests experienced Mexican cuisine, and we did," Mangel said in a statement. "Ten years later, we're showcasing the evolution of this brand in Tampa. This location has been meticulously planned to represent the Rocco's experience you can't get anywhere else, including new menu items and experiences."

This location features a range of healthy options, inspired by Mangel's own lifestyle choices after a 2016 multiple sclerosis diagnosis. There will be a wood-burning stove, rotisserie chickens, gluten-free items, market fresh fish, ceviche and "hearty salads."

Tacos can be served in crispy lettuce cups instead of tortillas, and diners can choose veggies instead of chips to eat with guacamole.

Rocco's is owned by Big Time Restaurant Group and has locations in Orlando, West Palm Beach, Delray Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach Gardens and Brooklyn, New York.
